Mutare Teachers Training College

Mutare Teachers College is a government teacher training institution located in Mutare, Manicaland Province, Zimbabwe. Established in 1956 as a primary teacher training college, the institution began with 50 students and six lecturers offering the PTL course before later expanding into secondary teacher education. The college operates from one main campus and became an associate college of the University of Zimbabwe in 1980. It specialises in preparing secondary school educators through professional teacher training programmes aligned with Zimbabwe’s Education 5.0 philosophy, focusing on teaching, research, innovation, community service, and industrialisation. Over the years, Mutare Teachers College has also successfully trained international students from countries including Namibia, Equatorial Guinea, and Mozambique. Located in the scenic eastern highlands city of Mutare, the college continues to contribute to the development of skilled, innovative, and competent educators for Zimbabwe and beyond.
